Alert on the New Coronavirus (Sixth Announcement)

 

Ishikawa Prefecture and Kanazawa City are in danger of the rapid spread of new coronavirus infections and declared emergency. The number of confirmed infections has rapidly increased in Kanazawa City from the beginning of April, and many people with unknown infection routes have also been confirmed.

We ask all students, faculty and staff to take great care of your health on a daily basis, wash your hands thoroughly, practice cough etiquette, and exercise caution to prevent the spread of the disease.

 

1. Measures for Students, Faculty and Staff Who have had Contact with People Infected with the New Coronavirus

All students, faculty and staff who have close contact history* with students, faculty and staff who have traveled abroad or those infected with the new coronavirus must stay at home for 14 days, fill out the health check sheet **, and monitor their health. If you experience any symptoms while staying at home, please promptly call one of the contact offices below and consult a health clinic.

 

*Close contact means contact with a person infected with the new coronavirus for a few minutes or more within 2 meters, or directly contacting the bodily fluids of a person infected with the new coronavirus without using appropriate personal protective equipment (being coughed on, touching a used tissue with bare hands, etc.).

** The health check sheet can be downloaded from the Kanazawa University website.

It is not necessary to submit the health check sheet after filling it out.

 

2. Measures for Students, Faculty and Staff Who are Suspected of Being Infected

If you are feeling weary (fatigue) and have respiratory problems, avoid contact with others, promptly call one of the contact offices below, and consult a health clinic. If you have a preexisting medical condition and the above described condition lasts for 2 days, please also consult one of the contact offices below.

 

3. Infection Prevention Measures

  1. Wash your hands with soap and flowing water (more than 30 seconds), disinfect your hands with alcohol-based sanitizer, and gargle to prevent the infection.
  2. If you have symptoms such as fever (over 37.5C) or coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, migraine, etc., make sure to stay home, take your temperature and record it daily.
  3. Stay at home for 2 days after your symptoms are gone (without taking medication).
  4. Avoid going out unnecessarily. If you must go out, avoid crowded places and wear a surgical mask.
  5. Avoid crowded areas. If you meet people, maintain distance between each person.
  6. Do not share items or food with others.

Alert on the New Coronavirus (Fifth Announcement)


On March 12, the World Health Organization (WHO) decided to call the COVID-19 infection a “pandemic (world-class infection) ” because the infection has spread all over the world and the situation is not expected to end soon.
We ask all student, faculty and staff to take great care of your health on a daily basis, wash your hand thoroughly, practice cough etiquette, and exercise caution to prevent the spread of the disease. Please note that the students, faculty and staff will be separately notified through Acanthus portal site.

1. Student, Faculty and Staff Who has Traveled to Regions with High Risk of Infection
Students, faculty and staff who has traveled to regions with high risk of infection or who has come into close contact with someone infected with COVID-19 must stay at home for 14 days and keep a close eye on their health using the health check sheet or similar tool. If you develop symptoms during the stay at home, promptly call a “Contact Office for the New Coronavirus Infection” and seek medical attention.

<Regions with high risk of infection>
※Nations that are categorized in the Level 2 due to the risk of infection by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (including the nations that are Level 2 in limited areas).
China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Korea, Iran, Italy, San Marino, Vatican, Switzerland, Spain, Iceland, Austria, Netherlands, Sweden, Slovenia, Denmark, Germany, Norway, France, Belgium, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg , Andorra, Monaco, Estonia, Greece, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Finland, Poland, Portugal, Malta, Latvia, Lithuania, United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Egypt

Due to the world-wide spread of infection, even in cases of travel to nations other than those listed above, we ask that you stay home for 2 weeks after returning to Japan and avoid unnecessary outing.

2. Measures Against Students, Faculty and Staff Who Is Suspected of Being Infected
If you have cold-like symptoms and have the fever (over 37.5C) that continuously lasts for more than 4 days, or if you are feeling weary (fatigue) and have respiratory problems, avoid contact with others and promptly call one of the contact offices below and consult a health clinic. If you have a preexisting medical condition and the above described condition lasts for 2 days, please also consult one of the contact offices below.
If you undergo PCR test, immediate report it to your affiliated student affairs section (students) or general affairs section (faculty and staff).

3. Infection Prevention Measures
(1)Wash your hands with soap and flowing water (more than 30 seconds), disinfect your hand with alcohol-based sanitizer and gargle to prevent the infection.
(2)If you have symptoms such as fever (over 37.5C) or coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, migraine, etc., make sure to stay home, take your temperature and record them daily.

Alert on the New Coronavirus (Fourth Announcement)                     

On February 21, 2020, the first confirmed case of patient infected with the New Coronavirus was reported in Ishikawa Prefecture. As of today, there have been 5 confirmed cases of the New Coronavirus, and another case of the infection could be found near us at any time. We ask to take great care of your health on a daily basis, wash your hand thoroughly, practice cough etiquette, and exercise caution to prevent the spread of the disease. Please note that the students, faculty and staff will be separately notified through Acanthus portal site.

1. Measures Against Students, Faculty and Staff Who Is Suspected of Being Infected
All students, faculty and staff who has returned from China and Korea or who had close contact with infected persons must do health check in accordance with the health check sheet, for the duration of 14 days after returning to Japan. After the completion of health check for 14 days, submit the result to the Health Service Center by e-mail or FAX.

2. Attendance at Events and Functions
If you are hosting events or functions, consider postponing or cancelling it in an effort to prevent spreading the New Coronavirus. Should you ever decide to hold an event, make sure to provide a disinfectant, and to encourage the participants to practice cough etiquette (wearing a mask, covering your cough with handkerchief, tissues or your sleeves, etc.) and to thoroughly wash hand. If the participants are feeling ill, notify them that they are recommended to refrain from participating in events to prevent the infection from spreading.

If students, faculty and staff attend events and functions, each must follow the measures concerning the cough etiquette and hand wash in accordance with the “3. Infection Prevention Measures,” as described below. In case you have a fever or cold-like symptoms, each one of you must act properly and refrain from participating in events.

Alert on the New Coronavirus (Second Announcement)

In the early hours of January 31 (Japan time), the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the situation surrounding the outbreak f the New Coronavirus in Wuhan, Hubei, China is a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern” (PHEIC). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also issued a level 2 risk warning regarding travel to all regions of China outside Hubei. The Government of Japan also decided on February 1, 2020 that the foreign nationals who had travelled to Hubei Province in the People's Republic of China within 14 days before arriving in Japan,are not permitted to land in Japan. Based on above, please keep in mind the following.

1. Wash your hands with flowing water (more than 30 seconds) and gargle, and in case you have symptoms such as fever (over 37.5C) or coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, migranes, etc. wear a surgical mask.

2. Student, faculty and staff who has returned from China must contact the Health Services Center about their health status and what to do in this situation. If there is symptom such as fever (over 37.5C) and respiratory problems, avoid contact with others, wear a surgical mask, and promptly consult a health clinic or one of the contact offices below.

Alert on the New Coronavirus (First Announcement)

Presently, there are cases of New Coronavirus infection centering in Wuhan, Hubei in China, and this infection is spreading, with patients reported inside and outside of China. On January 24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the official HP that the risk of infectious disease in Wuhan, Hubei is Level 3 (“Do not travel to this area. (Recommendation to suspend travel)”).

1. If a student or faculty and staff will return from the area where there is a danger of infectious disease or will visit such area
Such student, faculty, and staff must immediately contact the student affairs section of the affiliated school (students) or the general affairs section (faculty and staff), and if there are any symptoms such as coughs, fever, etc. within two weeks of entering Japan, he/she must take measures such as wearing a surgical mask, and promptly contact a clinic to seek medical attention. Besides, new coronavirus is appointed in designated infectious disease on January 28, and compulsory hospitalization and employment (working) restrictions are performed when the infection is confirmed.
Also, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is surveying the Japanese nationals in Hubei to prepare a chartered return flight from Wuhan to Japan. Students and other persons studying abroad in Hubei are advised to register their information quickly.

There is a possibility that the infection spread further. Students and other persons who plan to visit cities in China other than Wuhan are advised to take the utmost care and obtain the up-to-date local information from the following webpages and news.

2. Preventing Infection
Nowadays is also the season of influenza and other infectious diseases, so it is crucial to take preventive measures such as washing hands (when returning home, before eating, etc.), covering your mouth when coughing, etc. If you have symptoms such as coughs, sneezes, nasal discharge, sore throat, fever, etc., wear a surgical mask.
