On September? ?7th and 8th, students from Kanazawa University Volunteer Support Station and their advisor, Lecturer Kaisei Harada from Faculty of Economics and Management, Institute of Human and Social Sciences, participated in a rice harvesting volunteer activity at Wajima City's Senmaida rice fields along with general volunteers by the request of Wajima City Hall. They were taught by local people how to harvest rice and how to tie it up using straw.
They also participated as an operational supporter in the "Power of Utsuwa" pottery free donation event that took place at Juzo Shrine in Wajima City. For this event thousands of pieces of work donated by ceramic artists from all over Japan were given to disaster victims for free. On the 7th, volunteers participated in the regular distribution of living support supplies, and interacted with the disaster victims through this activity. On the 8th, they helped with setting up of the venue for the event and arranged the works.
?On September 11, students conducted a volunteer activities at Oya Elementary School in Wajima City, which had been used as an evacuation center. Leftovers of various equipment used at the evacuation center, such as cardboard beds, portable toilets, disinfectants, drinking water, and foodstuffs, were transported to the Wajima City Cultural Center and Sun Arena, which serve as storage warehouses for supplies. After the activity, students also distributed daily life support supplies at the Wajima City Juzo Shrine.
