On September 8, the first session of open lecture entitled "Overseas Academic Research Notes 2024" (open lecture will consist of 2 sessions) was held at Kanazawa Ekimae Satellite. 7 participants in their 50s to 80s attended the lecture.

In the first session, titled "Research Voyage: Survey Scenery and Application to Research" the lecturer, Associate Professor Mutsuo Inoue from Institute of Nature and Environmental Technology, introduced the oceanographic survey of the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) and the method of collecting seawater samples in the sea using photographs. Next, participants discussed the use of lead contained in the lead tiles of Kanazawa Castle and Mutsu iron (iron used in part of the battleship Mutsu) for extremely low-level radiation measurements, and the seawater circulation in the surface layer of the North Pacific Ocean as a tracer of 134Cs (radioactive cesium) after the Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011.There was an explanation about the abandoned tunnel of the former tail hut mine in the underground laboratory of the tail hut.

Students commented that the research focusing on cesium from the nuclear power plant accident was very interesting.
