On June 23, Mr. Damien Cole, Ambassador of Ireland, and two other delegates paid a courtesy visit to President Takashi Wada.
This visit was arranged to coincide with the English Speech Contest (Education in Ireland Cup) hosted by Enterprise Ireland, which took place on the same day at Kanazawa University.
During the courtesy visit, they discussed future prospects for student and researcher exchanges between Kanazawa University and Irish universities, and exchanged opinions on strengthening ties with the National University of Ireland, Cork, which has already concluded an interdepartmental agreement with Kanazawa University.
After the courtesy visit, a speech contest was held, and high school and university students from Ishikawa Prefecture participated. They delivered speeches on the theme of "Kokorozashi (aspiration)," and the winner was awarded the opportunity for a short-term study abroad in Ireland.
