Kanazawa University student becomes Japan's number one in the shogi student championship tournament

The 80th Student Meijin Tournament (sponsored by the All Japan Sthudent Shogi Federation) was held on June 8 and 9 at the Nihon Ki-in Honin in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Mr. Hiroaki Kunii (College of Science and Engineering School of Biological Science and Technology, 3rd year) of Shogi Club won the first prize.
Mr. Kunii said, "I have participated in this tournament for three years in a row, but until last year I was only in the top 8, so I am very happy to have surpassed that barrier".
