On June 23, a public lecture entitled "What people can not ask about rehabilitation" was held at Takara-machi /Tsuruma campus in the Tsuruma area. 27 participants ranging in age from high school students to those in their 70s attended the public lecture.
First, Professor Hitoshi Asai from the Institute of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences Faculty of Health Sciences gave an introduction to medical rehabilitation, explaining the features and differences between physical therapy and occupational therapy, which aim at early social reintegration of patients whose physical functions have declined due to injury or illness.
Next, there was an introduction to team medical care and robotic rehabilitation, which involves collaboration between multiple professions, including doctors, nurses, technicians, therapists, and pharmacists, with the patient and their family at the center.
Students commented: "I could clearly understand the connection and differences between occupational therapy and physical therapy" and "It was good that there was also a talk for those who want to become physical therapists and occupational therapists in the future".
