On June 13, KEYPAT*, a support team for mental health care, held a lecture and practice of mindfulness as a part of the program titled "Stress Management and Mindfulness" at Natural Science and Technology Library G1 Open Studio. 16 partisipants including Kanazawa University students and faculty members from affiliated schools attended the event. The program was designed for those who are feeling anxious and stressed because Ishikawa Prefecture was hit by another major earthquake on June 3.
Mindfulness is a technique of "intentionally focusing our attention on the present moment without making value judgments" when we are caught up in a bad event in the past or anxiety about the future and cannot get our hands on what is in front of us.
Comments from participants were the following: "I was able to focus on my body and breathing, which made me feel relaxed," "It was very nice to be able to relax, I feel like I can sleep well," and "I would like to participate regularly"
