On March 23, College of Human and Social Sciences School of International Studies held a start-up symposium for the Chubu Block Japanese Language Teachers and Training Promotion Center Project, commissioned by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
First, Kanazawa University President Wada made an opening address, and then Professor Noriko Ichijima from Institute of Human and Social SciencesFaculty of International Studies gave a report on Japanese language education at the Kanazawa University. Then Director Imamura from the Japanese Language Division, Agency for Cultural Affairs, gave a detailed explanation on the background of the new system and the outline of the law under the theme of "Enforcement of the Japanese Language Education Institution Accreditation Law". Next, Waseda University Emeritus Professor Hosokawa gave a lecture titled "Dialogue and Community: What Creates Professionalism in Japanese Language Education". Through discussion participants deepened their understanding of the issues of professionalism of Japanese language teachers and the nature of dialogue and community in practice.
Approximately 100 people from all over the country participated in this symposium, and it was full of lively discussions. In addition, all important stakeholders in the promotion of this project in the Hokuriku region participated, and it was a meaningful opportunity as a first step toward future collaboration and strengthening of relationships.
