The Kanazawa University International Award Office is pleased to announce that Mr. John C. Maraldo, a well-known scholar of Japanese philosophy, has been selected as the winner of the 5th Kanazawa University International Award.
Therefore, a commemorative lecture titled "The Promise of Nishida's Philosophy" will be held as follows.

Kitaro Nishida, born on May 19, 1870 in Kahoku City, Ishikawa Prefecture, is a world-renowned philosopher. His writings and his life, including Japan's first full-fledged philosophical book "The Study of the Good" have given broad and deep insights into today's philosophical questions and the way people live their lives. His philosophy, known as "Nishida's philosophy" has influenced not only philosophy but also various academic fields.
