On May 13, H.E. Eiichi Kawahara, Japanese Ambassador to Guatemala, and H.E. Angela Maria de Lourdes Chavez-Bietti, Ambassador of Guatemala to Japan, visited Kanazawa University and gave a special lecture hosted by the Center for Cultural Resource Studies. H.E. Kawahara and H.E. Chavez lectured on “The Present Situation and Agenda Related to the International Relationship between Japan and Guatemala.”, and approximately 80 audience gained a deeper understanding of the relationship between Guatemala and Japan.
Prior to the lecture, H.E. Kawahara and H.E. Chavez, paid a courtesy visit to President Koetsu Yamazaki. At the meeting, there was a discussion on the on-going cooperation between Guatemala and our university.
The Center for Cultural Resource Studies at Kanazawa University and the Vice Ministry of Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of Guatemala concluded a partnership in June 2011, and they are collaborating in the field of cultural resource studies, especially at the Mayan site of Tikal.
