On February 21, His Excellency Mr. Gursel Gudrat oglu ISMAYILZADA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Japan, paid a courtesy visit to President Yamazaki. Kanazawa University concluded a Memorandum of Understanding with Academy of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan on January 24, 2022. In addition, there is ongoing preparation to hold a symposium with several institutions of higher education in the Republic of Azerbaijan. H.E. Ambassador Ismayilzada has deeply contributed to both events. The Republic of Azerbaijan is also related to Ishikawa prefecture, since Shika-machi in Ishikawa prefecture served as host town for Azerbaijan paralympic swim team for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Japan. It is expected that various cultural and personal exchanges between the two countries, as well as research exchanges between higher education institutions, will further develop in the future.
