Prague-Kanazawa Joint Symposium on Space Science & Technology 2019 Takes Place

On November 19, Kanazawa University hosted the Prague-Kanazawa Joint Symposium 2019 at in Kanazawa, approximately 60 participants from Kanazawa University and our partner institutions took part in the event. This symposium aimed to enhance the collaboration between Kanazawa and Prague research groups on space physic and space technology. There were lively discussions on radio science and wave measurement technology in space plasma.

Dr. Chisato Mukai, Trustee of Research, opened the symposium. Then Dr. Gediminas Ramanauskas, First Counsellor of Delegation of the EU to Japan, and Mr. Stanislav Beneš, Commercial Counsellor of Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo, gave also opening remarks. Prof. Ondrej Santolik (Charles University) and Prof. Yoshiya Kasahara (Kanazawa University) spoke about the relation with the electromagnetic waves, especially “chorus” and the aurora phenomenon. Prof. Satoshi Yagitani (Kanazawa University) gave also the lecture on the microsatellite project called “Kanazawa-SAT3” designed to be a launch around 2021.

It was an essential opportunity to promote student exchanges and research collaboration among Kanazawa University and institutions in Prague. The next symposium will be held in March 2020, Prague.
