Kanazawa University has been selected as a UNESCO Chair and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UNESCO on January 26, 2023. The period of Chair is until June 30, 2027.
Launched by UNESCO in 1992, UNITWIN (University Twinning)/UNESCO Chair is a program aimed to enhance the capacity of higher education and research institutions through the exchange and sharing of knowledge. As of September 2022, there are 908 UNESCO Chairs and 44 UNITWIN at higher education institutions in 116 countries around the world.
Kanazawa University UNESCO Chair on “Intergenerational Learning for Sustainable Development” is led by the Chair holder, Associate Professor Mammadova Aida of the Organization of Global Affairs. It aims to promote intergenerational learning between young people and elderly in social, economic, and environmental aspects and to create mutually beneficial values by using UNESCO-designated sites. With a particular focus on research, education, capacity building, and dissemination, the program will work with regional and international partner organizations to develop educational and research activities with the aim of combining innovation and tradition for a more cohesive society.
